AN INCREDIBLY SAPPY HP DEDICATION.

Okay, so since the link to this blog can only be found on my LB page (yes, I chose not to let my Facebook friends know about it; no, I am not weird) most of you guys have probably already seen my latest look. For those of you who HAVEN'T, well, that isn't for long! It's crucial that you see this look before reading the embarrassing words I'm about to write, so here it is, brace yourselves:

This is actually one of the rare occasions when the look turned out better than I had thought it would when planning it! I guess it's because it's a tiny bit more casual than the others, as well as the fact that it's much closer to my everyday style. I mean, it's not like I never wear all those pretty strappy dresses, but I just don't wear them quite as often as cute mini's and baggy shirts.

That being said, read on for some very nostalgic, melancholy and obviously sappy words.

I'd like to tell you the story of this shirt. It looks like a rather plain and even boring shirt, right? Something your tween little sister would wear with a pair of skinnies and Converse sneakers. But the story behind it is very...different from any other stories about things.

I bought it last summer, in Uniqlo, when I was looking for a present for my friend who lives in Canada, Serena. I had already found a bunch of cute shirts (Uniqlo always makes me smile with its message tees!) when I saw this tee. And bam! I fell in love. I not only bought one for myself in black, but one for Serena in navy blue. When I arrived, we wore them to watch the last Harry Potter movie with denim cut-offs. That was one of the moments that resurfaces every week in my mind. I nearly cried at that movie.

You see, that's why this shirt is more than just an article of clothing - and I don't mean that in the obsessive materialistic way: Harry Potter brightened my childhood. The first book was THE first book I ever read - I was six then. I rewatched every movie religiously. I was Hermione for several Halloweens in a row. I walked round parks and forests in search of a wand - I broke branches into wand-shaped sticks and handed them out to my classmates. It was more than an obsession: it was a lifestyle.

And now, like everything, it has come to an end. I know I'm not alone in saying that childhood would have been nothing without Harry Potter. And I'm positive I wasn't the only one who believed that they'd receive a letter from Hogwarts. Harry Potter was something real to us nineties kids, and you know what? It will be a classic, you can be sure of it.

So that's what I had to say on that subject, although I suppose I could've said much more, I just didn't want to come out TOO sappy.

Oh, by the way, you can't see it in the pic, but I repainted my nails yesterday! I used the nail polish in the middle from this post. And I realized that glitter nail polishes aren't only adorable, but they're also extremely easy to put on! It dried in seconds and I'm pretty sure it's virtually impossible to smear it or anything, so even MY sloppy work turned out half good.

It was very cold out today, which is why I took my pic indoors. Not that this has stopped me before, but I suppose I decided to challenge winter by not going out more than neccessary until it left and spring arrived. Haha, that just sounded silly and spiritual. I should NOT be allowed to use my imagination in public, really.

Sooo that was all I had to tell you guys today! Have fun and please don't judge! ;)

XOXO,
Alice

  4. Rocking that t-shirt! I, too, read Potter many many times, but I've never warmed to the films. Love it with the skirt and the layering of the socks, and your headbow is cute.
